South Beaverton put itself in position to advance in the Little League Softball World Series on Friday night, beating Softball Femenino de Coamo of Puerto Rico 11-4 at Alpenrose Stadium.
The Oregon District 4 champions improved to 2-1 in the annual tournament with their second victory in two days.
South Beaverton and the Latin America entry were tied 2-2 through two innings.
The host team scored twice in the top of the third inning and added five runs in the fourth for a 9-2 advantage.
South Beaverton did its damage with 12 hits and eight walks. Lizzy Bradford had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.
Hailey Stutzman had three RBIs, and Amanda Peterson was 2 for 2 with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Erica Eidson pitched the win, giving up four hits and five walks, with four strikeouts, in six innings. She also went 2 for 3, with a triple and two runs scored.
In the first game of the day, Floyd Knobs Community Club of Indiana (Central) defeated Bacolod City of the Philippines (Asia-Pacific), 7-3.
Then Major Northwest of Prasha, Czech Republic (Europe-Africa) knocked off Cedar National in Cedar City, Utah (West), 5-3, and (East) played Rowan of Salisbury, North Carolina (Southeast).
Four games are on tap Saturday as well. It'll be West vs. East at 10 a.m., followed by Central versus Oregon District 4 at 3 p.m., Europe-Africa versus Canada at 5:30 p.m., and Asia-Pacific against Southwest at 7:30 p.m.
Pool play ends with four games on Sunday.
