UW's Andrews earns Pac-12 weekly award

COURTESY: UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON - Andrew Andrews, from Benson High, has won his second Pac-12 men's basketball player of the week award this season, after leading the Washington Huskies past UCLA and USC.Former Benson High guard Andrew Andrews, a senior at the University of Washington, has been named Pac-12 men’s basketball player of the week.

Andrew, 6-2, helped the Huskies to a 2-0 start in league play, averaging 29.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals in a sweep of UCLA and USC.

Washington (10-4 overall) has won its first two conference games for the first time since 2012-13.

The Huskies beat UCLA, then-ranked No. 25, 96-93 in two overtimes on Friday and USC 87-85 on Sunday. Against UCLA, Andrews had seven of his team’s 13 points in the second OT, along with six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Versus USC, he was 4 of 8 on 3-pointers for the second game in a row and made the go-ahead basket with 25 seconds left.
