College men’s golf: The Oregon Ducks play in Day 2 of 3 at the NCAA championships in Hutchinson, Kan. (Prairie Dunes Country Club).

Timbers: Portland goes to Carson, Calif., for a Major League Soccer match with Chivas USA at StubHub Center, 7:30 p.m. (KPDX 13).

Thorns: In a National Women’s Soccer League game, Portland visits the Boston Breakers at Harvard Stadium, 4 p.m.

College men’s golf: Oregon tees off in the final round of the NCAA championships at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.

May 27, 1966: John Jaha (age 48), former David Douglas High baseball star was a 14th-round draft choice of the Milwaukee Brewers and played 10 years in the major leagues, hitting 141 home runs with Milwaukie and the Oakland Athletics.

May 27, 1981: Nick Barnett (age 33), former Oregon State linebacker played for the Green Bay Packers from 2003-10.

May 28, 1948: Tom Blanchard (age 66), ex-UO quarterback from Grants Pass spent 11 years in the NFL, punting for New York, New Orleans and Tampa Bay from 1971-81.

Benson High’s girls win the Class 4A (largest classification) title at the Oregon School Activities Association track and field meet at Hayward Field. Freshman sprinters Deborah Jones and Brandi Probasco-Canda lead the way for what will be a Techsters dynasty, with championships also going to Tech in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Olivia Callier, the only Benson senior in the meet, also helps at the 2000 event by winning the 100-meter hurdles.
