MEN'S COLLEGE HOOPS: Concordia comes close at C of I
In a battle of two ranked teams, No. 10 College of Idaho held off No. 21 Concordia 84-79 in NAIA Division II play at Caldwell, Idaho.
At La Grande, Eastern Oregon edged Warner Pacific 72-66.
And, at Lewis & Clark, the host Pioneers fell 65-59 to Pacific Lutheran
Cavaliers fall in final minute
Concordia's nine-game winning streak came to an end with its 84-79 defeat at C of I.
The Yotes (19-5 overall) lead the Cascade Collegiate Conference with a 12-2 record, while the Cavaliers find themselves tied for third at 7-4 with Northwest. Southern Oregon is 8-4, and Northwest Christian is 7-5.
Adam Herman, Concordia's 6-6 senior forward, scored 26 points in Friday's road game.
The hosts led by four at the half, despite an 11-0 Cavs run, and Concordia led 58-50 midway through the second half.
The Coyotes regained the momentum, however, and grabbed a 78-77 lead with 1:06 left.
Herman sank two free throws for the Cavaliers' final lead, 79-78.
C of I raised its record to 19-5 overall. Concordia is 18-5.
Knights come up short
Michael Hall led Warner Pacific with 16 points in a 72-66 loss at Eastern Oregon.
EUO led 43-20 at the half, but the Knights got to within 53-51 with 7:33 remaining and 60-57 later in the second half.
WPC slipped to 12-11 overall and 6-5 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, while Eastern Oregon improved to 13-9, 4-8.
Pioneers drop NWC game
Junior forward Justin Leathers scored 17 points for Lewis & Clark in a 65-59 loss at home to PLU.
Leathers made 11 of 13 free throws and added nine rebounds.
L&C (12-6 overall, 5-4 in the Northwest Conference) will play host to Puget Sound at 8 p.m. Saturday.
PLU is 7-11, 4-5.
