HIGHLIGHTS

The Winterhawks never trailed in winning their sixth consecutive game.

Brendan Burke made 30 saves, and Portland took the lead for good with 3:08 left in the second period on the first of two goals by Nic Petan.

WHAT IT MEANS

• Portland pushed its record to 31-12-2-3 (67 points) for a four-point lead on second-place Seattle (29-15-2-3, 63) in the U.S. Division of the Western Hockey League.

Seattle lost 3-1 at Tri-City on Friday.

• The Winterhawks have won three of five meetings with the Silvertips, with five match-ups remaining (three in Portland).

TOP PERFORMERS

• Burke improved to 26-10-2-2 as the Hawks' No. 1 goalie this season.

• Petan also scored at 7:42 of the third period — his 24th goal of the season. And he had an assist on the game's first goal, by Brendan Leipsic 10:03 after the opening faceoff.

• Leipsic, who has scored 28 goals, assisted on Petan's markers.

• Derrick Pouliot gave Portland a 3-1 lead 42 seconds into the third period.

• Mathew Dumba got the Winterhawks' final goal, connecting on a power play at 19:13 of the third frame for his second tally with Portland.

• Paul Bittner had two assists for the Hawks.
