There is some consternation around the state, especially in Eugene and Salem, about a new Oregon High School Athletic Association rule.
It states that coaches and athletic directors must be full-time teachers at their school "and no part of the coach's salary or pay is to come from any other source than the school organization employing him."
Seems that the ruling body was concerned that local chambers of commerce and other outside organizations were or would pay selected coaches in an attempt to boost their school's program.
