Portland returns from the 10-day Western Hockey League holiday break and travels to Kennewick, Wash., for a 7 p.m. game against Tri-City.
The Americans have lost their last four games and are last in the WHL U.S. Division but with an above-.500 record (17-16-1-2, 37 points).
The Hawks, still minus several top players who are competing in the world junior championships in Sweden, lead the division at 23-8-2-2 (50 points), but are only two points ahead of Everett, which will play host to Seattle on Friday.
The Les Schwab Invitational begins its four-day run at Liberty High. The first game is 9 a.m., Central Catholic against Tigard. Jefferson tackles Lake Oswego at 10:30 a.m. Jesuit meets Timberline of Washington at 1:30 p.m. Grant takes on Rainier Beach of Washington at 8:30 p.m.
Cleveland is in the winners' bracket for day two of the Wilsonville tournament and will play Silverton at 6:15 p.m. The Warriors beat Pendleton 58-47 on Thursday.
Roosevelt resumes play at the Century tourney.
Madison and Benson are back in action at the Barlow tournament.
Lincoln plays in a tourney at San Diego, Calif.
Also, McMinnville is at David Douglas, and La Salle is at Scappoose, both 7 p.m.
Grant, St. Marys Academy and Central Catholic compete in the Interstate Tournament. The Generals are paired against Sunset at 10 a.m. in the first round. The Blues open at 8:30 a.m. against Corvallis. The Rams first match-up is with Beaverton at 5 p.m.
Lincoln is at Summits Les Schwab Holiday Tournament, opening against Bend at 12:45 p.m..
Cleveland is in the Century tournament, facing Marist at 4:45 p.m.
Roosevelt continues play in a tourney at Marshfield.
Parkrose plays host Dallas in a tourney game, 7 p.m.
Also, David Douglas visits McKay, 1:30 p.m.
Cleveland is at the Northwest Duals, hosted by Westview, today and Saturday.
