But the Hawks missed a chance to win, as Seattle tied the score at 4-4 with 3:17 left in regulation, then got the deciding goal 4:19 into the extra period.

The Hawks lost a point to U.S. Division leader Everett, which won 1-0 at Calgary.

TOP PERFORMERS

• Four Winterhawks had a goal, and seven Portland players had an assist.

In order, Taylor Leier, Keegan Iverson, Nic Petan and Brendan Leipsic scored goals for the Hawks.
