Cleveland sweeps PIL 5A titles; Warriors Amin, Wren win individual crowns

Nabi Amin, a Cleveland junior, won the boys race in 16 minutes, 30 seconds. He defeated runner-up Ollie Tuffa, a Benson sophomore, by 10 seconds.

Warriors junior Emma Wren successfully defended her girls crown, clocking 18:52. Wilson junior Olivia Stein was second in 19:09.

Cleveland's boys won with 39 points, with Benson earning second place with 53. Wilson and Franklin tied for third with 62 points, and Madison finished fifth with 126.

The Cleveland girls won with 41 points, edging out Wilson (46) and Franklin (47), with Madison fourth at 95 points.

Cleveland and Wilson go to the state girls competition at Lane CC on Nov. 2.

Benson senior Jonathon Zacarias was third in 16:42, with Wilson junior Jack Howard also timed in 16:42.

Franklin senior Margarita Lauer was third in the PIL 5A girls race in 19:17. Then came Wilson freshman Sydney Brieher in 19:25 and Franklin frosh Delaney Hartmann in 19:34.

Cleveland also scored with junior Bryn McKillop (sixth), senior Emilie Winn (seventh), junior Madeleine Willard-Herr (14th) and senior Nora Sawyer (16th).
