Winterhawks rout Seattle; Bjorkstrand nets 4

The Portland Winterhawks got a measure of revenge Saturday night on the Seattle Thunderbirds.

After losing at Seattle in a shootout last week, the Hawks handed the T-Birds their first loss of the Western Hockey League season.

The Winterhawks improved their record to 2-1-0-1 by clubbing Seattle (3-1-0-0) 10-4 at Moda Center.

Portland's Oliver Bjorkstrand scored four goals before the announced crowd of 7,062.

Adam de Champlain got the winning goal at 11:45 of the first period, and Bjorkstrand's first marker, at 17:43, made the score 2-0.

The Hawks led 5-0 after two periods and pushed their lead to 9-0 8:27 into the third period on Bjorkstrand's fourth goal.

Seattle scored its first goal at 10:37.

Bjorkstrand also had an assist, and Garrett Harr had four assists.

Brendan Burke got the win with 34 saves.

Portland was 6 of 7 on the penalty kill and scored two short-handed goals. Portland was 2 for 9 on the power play.

The Winterhawks return to the ice on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. game against the Spokane Chiefs at Moda Center.
