Ron Sauber, Jr.

Ron Sauber Jr. of Oregon City, Ore. passed away Saturday, May 10 after fighting brain cancer since August. He was born Feb. 12, 1973 in Portland, Ore. Ron’s family will miss him greatly including his parents, Ron Sr. and Katy Sauber of West Linn, his grandmother, Alyce Waddill, and wife, Erin Walsh, of Oregon City, Ore.

Ron was a 1991 graduate of West Linn High School. After high school he earned two Bachelor of Science degrees from Oregon State University as well as a master’s in teaching from Lewis and Clark College. More recently Ron earned a degree from the Oregon Culinary Institute.

After teaching science at Ogden Middle School, Ron taught alternative education at Canby High School. Later, Ron started the guide service Groundswell Kayak Fishing.

Ron was an outstanding husband, loving son and loyal friend. He was a renaissance man who enjoyed the outdoors including angling, hunting and photography.

Ron also loved to cook, read, research, eat and grow vegetables. He shared his knowledge and love of fishing with the Northwest Kayak Anglers and recently started free diving in one of his favorite spots, Netarts Bay.

There will be a funeral mass at St. John the Apostle in Oregon City at 5:30 p.m. Friday, May 16th. The family asks in lieu of flowers people contribute to the Ron Sauber Memorial Scholarship Fund at OnPoint Credit Union.

Ron and Erin would like to thank the fabulous members of Canby School District for their kindness throughout this difficult year.
