Ada Hanson

December 28, 1918 - January 19, 2014-

Ada HansonAda Hanson was born on a farm near Bryant, South Dakota in 1918. She was the oldest of nine children born to Orlin and Abbie (Janssen) Schamens. She married Norman Hanson on January 12, 1942, right after the outbreak of World War II. Norman was called back into service and sent to Ft. Lewis, Washington for more training.

Ada followed her husband to the west coast, traveling to Portland in August of 1942. Soon after she began working for B.P. John Furniture, where she remained for 31 years, retiring as an inspector in quality control.

She moved to Canby, Oregon in 2001 to be near family. She was a past member of V.F.W. Auxiliary and an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora, Oregon. Ada enjoyed gardening and spending time with her husband on fishing and hunting trips. They also took numerous sightseeing trips which included every state west of the Missouri River, as well as visits to Mexico and Canada.

Ada was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; Jim, Albert, and Orvil; sisters, Ethel and Alice. Surviving are her sisters Jean Parrett and Evelyn Moeller and brother Charles Schamens.

Ada’s Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Aurora. After her service, a luncheon will follow at the church.
