Thomas Robert Steward

Thomas Robert Steward, 55, died Dec. 31, 2013.

He was born July 28, 1958, in Eugene to Robert and Nancy Steward.

In 1965, the family moved to Logan to raise chickens. By 1970, they had moved to Oregon City where he attended Ogden Junior High School and Oregon City High school.

In 1975, they moved to Canby where he graduated from Canby High School in 1976.

He worked as a computer programmer in the banking industry as well as for Keizer Permanente and Freightliner until 2009.

He and his wife, Teresa, were married May 9, 2009, in the First Baptist Church. He was active in his church and volunteered as a supervisor at First Baptist Church School.

His favorite hobby was looming winter hats for the Operation Christmas Child shoebox. He enjoyed playing his trumpet, the art of wood burning and collecting coins, stamps and Thomas Kinkade paintings.

Survivors include his wife and brothers, Rick, of Oakhurst, Calif., Jerry, of Tigard, and Jon, of Vernonia.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
