Rosalie L. Bloom

November 10, 1927 - June 18, 2014

Rosalie L., Bloom died on June 18, 2014 at her home in West Linn, Ore. She was 86 years old.

She was born Rosalie L. Haun on November 10, 1927 in Oregon City, Ore. She married Richard R. Bloom on November 19th, 1947, in Oregon City, Ore. She attended schools in Canby and had lived most of her life in Oregon City. She was a loving, beloved and devoted wife and mother, nana and friend.

For many years she enjoyed getting together with the“Coffee Group”, the “Potluck Group” (a collection of old friends), and a weekly lunch date with “The Old Ladies”.

A Canby native, Rosalie, along with her husband Richard, owned Oregon City Garbage Company, which was founded by Richard’s father in 1935. They later acquired Gladstone Disposal Company and Molalla Sanitary Service.

Faith, family and friends were Rosie’s priorities. Throughout her life, Rosie was active in her church, Zion Lutheran in Oregon City, Oregon City Women’s Club and Willamette Valley Country Club. She was a past member of the Willamette Falls Hospital Auxiliary. She had a zest for life and will be remembered for her warmth, strength, generous spirit, and of course, her cooking. She had a big heart and believed in helping others, taking care of her community and church, loving others unconditionally and doing your best, no matter what activity was involved.

Rosie loved a good adventure and was always looking forward to her next trip. She had traveled all over the world and cherished those memories. She also enjoyed taking frequent day trips with her grandson, Alex. She

was a keen bridge player and enjoyed all the fiendships he had made at the bridge tables she had sat at. Rosie’s bright smile, laughter and adventuresome soul will be sorely missed by her family and friends. If you were Rosie’s friend, you were a friend forever. She was loved and respected by all who knew her.

The Bloom family would like to give special recognition and a heartfelt thank you to Barb and Bob McEahern for the friendship, care, compassion and unconditional love that they gave to Rosie throughout her lifetime.

Rosie is survived by her children, Pamela J. and Richard R. (Trudi), grandchildren Alex and Aimee (Scott Krug); sister Gloria Jean Nelson (Doug), 5 nephews, 9 nieces and her favorite cocker spaniel, Gracie Mae.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard R and her daughter, Patricia Ann.
