GFU places well in rankings for students studying abroad
George Fox University recently placed high on a list of the best colleges in study abroad participation.
A report of 2014-2015 college rankings released by U.S. News and World Report examined 1,800 colleges around the United States and ranked them on a variety of things, among them participation in study abroad education.
George Fox placed 53rd on the list. The school sends 49 percent of its undergraduate students on study abroad trips before their graduation, according to a press release.
Among the options offered to students are the Juniors Abroad program, which sends junior and senior students on three-week trips led by professors. Students are asked only to pay for their room and board.
The school also offers service trips to a variety of countries. In the past students have worked in communities in Peru, South Africa, China, Nicaragua, Argentina, Thailand and many other places.
Other programs through the school also offer semester long courses in Australia, China, Ecuador, New Zealand, Senegal, India, Uganda, France, Spain, Costa Rica and Oxford, England.
