MLS camp March 25-27 among several options being offered by local club BSC Newberg this spring
BSC Newberg has partnered with the Portland Timbers to host a youth soccer camp for players ages 5-13 from 9 a.m. to noon March 25-27, providing the highlight of what is already expected to be a busy spring for the local club.
BSC Newberg, which was formerly known as Newberg Soccer Club before merging with Portland-based Bridlemile Soccer Club last year, is also offering a player development academy for U9 and U10 players, as well as separate competitive spring programs for ages U11-U14 and U15-U18.
The development academy is intended for players looking to play at a higher level and features training sessions from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursday at Mountain View Middle School, along with games from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sundays at Loren Douglas Field.
Players may also be selected to 12-person developmental academy teams to play in a spring developmental league.
All training sessions will operate on the clubs punch-card system, in which 10-session cards can be purchased for $100.
Competitive leagues for U11-U14 and U15-U18 players began March 4 and run for eight weeks, with practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the middle school field and games at the high school on Sundays.
Practices and games for the U11-U14 will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the U15-U18 group from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Both leagues cost $200 per player.
Lastly, BSC Newberg will host a free soccer jamboree and barbecue for all players ages 8-14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 18 at Loren Douglas Field.
