GFU wins out to finish second in Northwest Conference
The Bruins will host the Pirates on Thursday night in a Northwest Conference tournament semifinal
George Fox collected wins over Lewis & Clark, Puget Sound and Willamette last week to wrap up second place in the Northwest Conference and secure home-court advantage for the first-round of the league tournament.
The Bruins helped eliminate the team that ended their season a year ago, topping Lewis & Clark 66-48 Feb. 18 at Miller Gym.
Head coach Michael Meeks team then cruised to a 74-61 victory at Puget Sound Friday night before returning to Newberg to close the regular season with an 87-42 rout of Willamette.
George Fox (22-3, 13-3) will now host third-place Whitworth at 7 p.m. Thursday in an NWC tournament semifinal. The winner of that contest will face either Whitman or Puget Sound, who will face off Thursday in Walla Walla, Wash.
