Takedown clinic coming in November

The Newberg wrestling program will host the Tiger Takedown Wrestling Clinic for youth in grades kindergarten through eight from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4-7 in the Newberg High School wrestling room. Youngsters will be coached and supervised by the high school wrestling staff, Newberg Mat Club coaches and NHS varsity wrestlers. Each evening will include wrestling instruction, exercise and activity, and plenty of actual wrestling.

Participants will be matched with youngsters their own age and size; no experience is necessary. Cost for the entire clinic is $5 and registration will be taken at the door Nov. 4. Youth who cannot attend all four sessions should participate when they can and wear shorts or sweat pants, a T-shirt, and clean tennis shoes or socks. Parents are encouraged to come watch, take pictures and visit with coaches. Information about the Newberg Mat Club and other youth wrestling opportunities will be available during sessions. For more information, call Neil Russo at the high school at 503-515-4220.
