Contra Dance set at cultural center WednesdayContra dancing will return to the Chehalem Cultural Center this week.
Contra dance is a style of folk dance with roots in English and French folk dancing, organizers said, and it is for all ages and easy to learn. A caller walks dancers through the steps of each dance so beginners are welcome and no partner is required. Pre-dance lessons will begin at 7 p.m. and the dancing is set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 20) at the cultural center, 415 East Sheridan St. Cost is $8 for CCC members, $7 for seniors and $5 for students. Jake Jolliff to perform at Coffee CottageMandolinist and Newberg native Jake Jolliff will perform Dec. 27 at Coffee Cottage, 808 E. Hancock St. Known for his bluegrass gospel music, Jolliff has played all over the Northwest and on morning gospel shows. His show is set for 7 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 503-538-5126.
St. Paul Rodeo tickets on sale now
It will be St. Paul's 83rd rodeo this year and tickets are on sale now for a selection of reserved seats in the 10,500-person rodeo grounds.
"We're affordable family fun and a tradition in the community. People put the St. Paul Rodeo on their bucket list and once they come they enjoy it so much they return every year," said Cindy Schonholz, rodeo general manager.
