Post will hold town hall in St. Paul
State Rep. Bill Post will hold a town hall meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. Aug. 8 at the St. Paul community hall, 20239 Main St. Post, who serves Newberg, St. Paul and Keizer, will speak on the recently closed legislative session and his membership on the House Judiciary, House Economic Development and Trade, and Veterans and Emergency Preparedness committees. Newberg Community Band will hold Music Lab for Kids
The Newberg Community Band will hold its annual Music Lab for Kids at 7 p.m. Aug. 2 at the Newberg Public Library. The music lab, according to a press release, "is bigger than ever and gives kids a chance to hear and try out a variety of instruments that they may not find anywhere else in Newberg." The band, under the guidance of Dick Elliott, will perform a short concert, an "instrument petting zoo" and provide many opportunities for photos.

Safety Town coming Aug. 7-11
The Chehalem Park and Recreation District and the Newberg-Dundee Police Department will partner to host the five-day Safety Town camp for children entering kindergarten or first grade Aug. 7-11 at the Chehalem Armory Center, 620 N. Morton. The camp will run daily from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and includes presentations and activities about personal, bicycle, pedestrian, fire, water, animal, electrical and school bus safety, as well as poison awareness and calling 9-1-1. Cost is $60 for district residents ($70 for out of district) with a $10 discount for registering early.
