Rebecca Lomnicky, an international fiddle champion, will join David Brewer from the Celtic band Molly’s Revenge at the Newberg Music Center on First Street. Both have spent years developing their skills and studying Scotland before coming together as a somewhat-unlikely duo

Lomnicky has won multiple awards for her fiddle playing, most recently graduating from Cornell University. Brewer specializes in Scottish bagpipes “on which he is unarguable one of the most energetic and charismatic performers of the instrument in the world today,” according to a press release from the Music Center.

He also plays the guitar, Irish penny-whistle and bodhran frame-drum in accompaniment Lomnicky’s fiddle.

“(They) have forged their duo in the spirit of merging these two similar but very different worlds to create a new seamless sound which is both kinetic, and full of passion,” according to the release. “In this concert, the duo will explore this classical repertoire with fiddle, bagpipes, guitar, bodhran and penny-whistle.”

The concert begins at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10.
