Veritas raises more than $50k

Veritas School held its annual fundraising auction March 8, raising more than $50,000 to support the school’s Family of Funds. All money will go directly to support the operation of the school. The Veritas choir performed at the event, as did Poetry Out Loud district winner Andrea Woidyla.

Applications for kindergarten due Friday

Applications for Newberg Public School’s full-day and dual-language kindergarten programs are due by Friday. Registration forms are available at all Newberg elementary school offices and online at www.newberg.k12/

Grad Night rummage sale this weekend

The Newberg High School Grad Night committee will hold a rummage sale Friday through Sunday at Newberg Dodge. The committee is also looking for volunteers for the events and for the Pacific Conference district track meet May 15-16, at which Grad Night volunteers will be in charge of concessions. Prom dress giveaway this weekend

Local Portland-based nonprofit organization, Abby’s Closet, will host its 10th Annual Prom Gown Giveaway from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Sunday at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. The event will feature more than 5,000 prom dresses ranging in sizes 0-26, all of which have been donated by various retail shops and individuals across the country. Gown accessories will also be featured and will be given away to each attendee at no cost.  The event is free and open to the public. High school students must present their student ID or proof of high school registration to enter the event and receive their free dress and accessory. Last year, 2,000 dresses were given away to students from 216 different high schools in Oregon and southwest Washington. For more information, call 503-722-1524 or visit
