Love INCs relational ministry growing

Ministry — More than 40 people are set to participate in the program and will be able to learn about money management and life skills

Love INC (In the Name of Christ) is calling for help in its fight to end the cycle of poverty.

According to the chartable organization’s January newsletter, more than 40 people are set to participate in its growing relational ministry program, eager to learn money management and life skills.

Among the incentives the program uses to keep clients coming to class and working hard are funds to assist with prescriptions and identification costs, filled propane tanks, $50 PGE cards, $10 gas cards, frozen meat and diapers

In addition to donations to help fund the relational ministry and Love INC’s many other programs, volunteering one’s time is another way to help out. For the relational ministry, volunteers are needed to transport clients to and from Thursday meetings, set up meetings, clean up afterwards or provide childcare.

Love INC’s top three needs in general this month are shelter hosts, $10 gas cards and sack lunch kits.

Among the specific needs of its many ministries are new or near-new cooking utensils, including spatulas, pancake turners, large spoons and soup ladles, as well as new can openers for the Kitchen Set Up ministry at 2nd Street Community Church.

The Over the Counter Medication ministry at Church of the Nazarene is calling for adult and child acetaminophen, ibuprofen, vitamins, Airborne and acid-relief and anti-diarrheal medications.

Hats, gloves, umbrellas and scarves are needed during the winter months, as are monthly bus passes and sack lunch kits for the Newberg Community Shelter.

Newberg Friends Church could use donations of seasoned wood for its wood ministry, while handwarmers, sleeping bags and tents are needed for Love INC’s homeless kit ministry.

The Diaper Ministry at Joyful Servant Lutheran Church is calling for diapers in sizes 4, 5 and 6, as well as baby wipes.

Lastly, C3 Newberg’s Non-Food Pantry would benefit from donations of toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, shampoo, empty spray bottles and empty laundry soap containers.
