Bingo schedule changes with the new year
Starting this month, bingo sessions at the Chehalem Senior Center will change in time. Bingo will now be held every Tuesday and the first and third Saturday of every month. The first number will be called at 1:15 p.m. The monthly bingo potluck will be the first Saturday of the month, starting at noon.
Cultural grants for 2014 distributed
The Yamhill County Cultural Coalition has awarded its grants for the 2014 year. With 24 applications received, 13 organizations will receive funding. The grants total more than $15,000 with individual awards ranging from $500 to $2,000 and are presented to organizations to support arts, heritage and humanities projects. Local organizations that will receive funding include the Chehalem Players Repertory, Friendsview Retirement Community, the Hoover-Minthorn House and the Newberg Downtown Coalition. Open mic nights at First Street Pub
Every first and third Thursday a full PA and tuned drum kit, set for acoustic or electric playing, will be available at First Street Pub. Open mic lasts from 7 to 11 p.m. Sign in starts at 6:30 p.m. The bi-monthly events are hosted by professional musicians Todd Hines, Matt Banke and Mick Montemurro.
