Young Life Bowl-a-Thon Sunday in McMinnville

Some spaces remain for McMinnville Young Life’s Bowl-a-Thon, set to take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Walnut Lanes. A barbecue dinner and silent auction will follow from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the McMinnville Grand Ballroom. Cost is $35 per person, $20 for dinner only. St. Peter to host 5-day mission

St. Peter Parish Catholic Church is hosting a five-day parish mission featuring pastor Pedro Arteaga of St. Matthew in Hillsboro beginning with a 5 p.m. Vigil Mass on Saturday and ending with a bilingual Mass at 7 p.m. Oct. 23. Arteaga will also preach in English at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. services and in Spanish at 12:15 p.m. Sunday. Afternoon sessions at 6 (English) and 7:30 p.m. (Spanish) will be held Oct. 21 and 22. Arteaga was born in Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1964 and moved to Mexico to study in 1984. He was ordained in 1997 and holds a bachelor’s degree of sacred theology, a master’s degree in Catholic theology and anthropology and a special diploma in spiritual theology. Poker tourney coming Nov. 1

Northside Community Church will host a poker and blackjack tournament at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Fireside Room. Proceeds will go to help fund a short-term mission trip to Ethi-opia in January. Auxiliary slates bazaar

The George Fox University Auxiliary will host a bazaar Oct. 25-26 at the Ron Gregory Atrium and Hoover Academic Building. More than 40 artisans will sell handcrafted jewelry, holiday décor, folk art, linens, soaps, candles, ornaments, scarves, clay art, plants, food and more from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 25 and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 26.
