Love INC focusing on hunger this month in the community

Ministry — The breakfast and lunch kits the network of local church charities provides are in high demand at clearinghouse and shelter

Fighting hunger is a year-round battle, which is why Love INC (In the Name of Christ) provides its breakfast bags and sack lunch kits to individuals at its clearinghouse, as well as to women and children at the homeless shelter.

The demand is so high that Love INC goes through 500 such meals per month and why it is soliciting donations from the community this month.

Just hearing about the program was enough for one local youth to include gathering and assembling breakfast bags a part of his ninth birthday party. In addition to donating the completed kits, kids at the party also took some kits home to give to someone in need.

Donations for the breakfast bags and sack lunch kits — juice boxes, granola bars, fruit cups, pop-top stew cans, spoons and napkins — can be dropped off at the Love INC Clearinghouse anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

Love INC’s top needs this month are delivery volunteers, shelter hosts and diapers for the diaper ministry at Joyful Servant Lutheran Church, which is calling for sizes 4, 5 and 6, as well as baby wipes.
