Local churches will host classes on finance
Church news Nine-week Financial Peace University course is available at Grace Baptist and Newberg Roots churches on October weekends
Two Newberg churches are hosting meetings for financial expert Dave Ramseys Financial Peace University program, a nine-week course designed to give families and individuals practical tools to manage their finances and prepare for long-term fiscal success.
Grace Baptist Church kicked off the series over the weekend and will continue to host lessons weekly at 9 a.m. on Sundays. Newberg Roots Church will host at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights beginning Oct. 2.
Each week, a different lesson, from budgeting and relationships to getting out of debt and investing, will be presented in a DVD viewing, followed by a small-group discussion.
According to Ramsey, families who complete the course are able, on average, to pay off $5,300 and save $2,700 in the first 90 days alone.
FPU will not only transform the way you handle money, but also your marriage and other areas of your life, Ramsey said. This isnt a boring financial class. We make learning about money fun and easy to understand so people in every situation can benefit from the information.
FPU lessons also include guest speakers Rachel Cruze, speaker and daughter of Dave Ramsey; Jon Acuff, author of Wall Street Journal best-seller Quitter and the blog Stuff Christians Like; and Chris Hogan, counselor and speaker for the Dave Ramsey organization.
The course was revised in summer 2012 and includes a work book, a copy of Ramseys Complete Guide to Money, an envelope system, audio CD library and access to budgeting forms and MP3s of all lessons.
Registration, with a cost of $93, can be completed online at www.daveramsey.com.
