Property tax appeal board seeks new applicants

The Marion County Board of Property Tax Appeals — which includes St. Paul — has open positions in the board member pool from which members are selected. Board members consider property value appeals that affect the amount of property taxes owners pay. Oregon law requires one holder of public office and two non-office holding citizen members to serve on the board. Marion County has non-office holding members serve instead of an office-holding position.

Applicants must be at least 18 and residents of Marion County. A one-day training session, usually in January, is required and knowledge of current property values is helpful.

For more information or to receive an application by mail or e-mail, call the Volunteer Services Office at 503-588-7990, e-mail volunteer@co. marion.or.us or visit Marion County’s volunteer website at www.co.marion.or.us/BS/VOL/.
