Oktoberfest: Not another wine event
Recreation Newbergs second annual Oktoberfest, set for Sept. 20-21 at Memorial Park, will embrace Bavarian culture and customs
For the second year, Newberg will host to a two-day Bavarian festival Oktoberfest.
The festival runs Sept. 20-21 in Memorial Park with activities for all ages, including polka lessons, live music and a lederhosen contest.
Sponsored by the Newberg Early Bird Rotary, there will be traditional draft horses to kick off festivities at 4 p.m. Sept. 20.
We wanted to put on an event that the entire family could enjoy to help raise funds for our Rotary service projects, said Early Bird Foundation Liaison Terry Emery. It is our mission to change lives, build projects and have fun. The kids will get a kick out of the horses and the parade.
For adults, there will be a variety of local beers on tap and wine from Anam Cara Cellars. Food from local vendors will also be available.
Entry is $8 and includes a beer. Oktoberfest will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 20 and noon to 10 p.m. Sept. 21.
