Margaret Lemmons

Newberg resident Mar­garet Lemmons died Aug. 8, 2013, of heart failure at a local care facility. She was 84.

She was born May 6, 1929, in Gresham to Willard and Ethelyn (Armstrong) Shat­tuck. She earned a bachelor’s degree from George Fox College (now George Fox University) and a master’s degree from Lewis & Clark College.

On Aug. 6, 1954, she married Gerald Lemmons. She taught language arts at George Fox for several years before teaching at Kelso (Wash.) High School for two and a half decades. She was a member of Newberg Friends Church and served on the George Fox board of trustees for many years.

Survivors include son Michael, sister Evangelyn Fleetwood, of Newberg, and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Newberg Friends Church. Burial will be private at Willamette National Cemetery. Dis­pensation will be by cremation.

Memorial contributions may be made to the George Fox University scholarship fund or Rose Valley Friends Church in Kelso.

Ronald Toby

Gresham resident Ronald Loren Toby died in Newberg on Aug. 13, 2013. He was 45.

He was born June 18, 1968, in Portland to Pamela Strode and Norman Toby. He graduated from David Douglas High School.

Survivors include daughter Raquel, of Troutdale, and mother Pamela Strode, of Gresham.

A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 23 at Rockwood Grange Hall, 18303 S.E. Stark St. in Portland. Visitation will be held at 7 p.m. Aug. 20 at Gresham Memorial Chapel, 267 S.E. Roberts St.
