The gospels message of faith is timeless

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written, ‘The righteous will live by faith.’

Those words sailed into Rome in a letter written by the Apostle Paul, addressed to the church in Rome.

The gospel — the old story of a savior and his glory — never got old to the Apostle Paul. You can sense it when you read the way he writes.

I can safely wager that at the foundation of most of the churches in Newberg, rests the doctrine of Justification by faith; that we are declared righteous not by our works or our merit but by God’s grace.

Through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ, God’s righteousness is credited to us!

That doctrine is the heart of the gospel that Paul proclaimed. No wonder it never got old!

Perhaps this old truth does not tire as quickly as the hands and feet that carry it.

It’s amazing how refreshing water can taste when we have been carrying it for miles without stopping to drink.

Can you imagine what a city alive with the electricity of the gospel would look like? Maybe it’s time to taste it again and find out.
