Penner-Ash kicks off benefit concert series

Next month, Penner-Ash Wine Cellars will invite guests to a unique vineyard concert and picnic experience. Artists LeRoy Bell and His Only Friends (6 p.m., Aug. 4) and Lori McKenna (6 p.m., Aug. 11) will perform in the Penner-Ash oak

grove overlooking the Chehalem Valley. Included in the ticket price are deluxe picnic fare from local chefs and Penner-Ash wine. The LeRoy Bell concert will also include coach transportation to and from Portland. Revenue from both events goes directly to charity. Tickets to the Aug. 4 concert are $300 per couple, with all of the proceeds going toward Friends of the Children Portland. Tickets to the Aug. 11 are $100 each, with all of the proceeds going toward the ¡Salud! Services Program.

Community band hosting summer concert

The Newberg Community Band will perform marches, a Cole Porter medley and other favorites at its annual free summer concert beginning at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 at the outdoor amphitheater at George Fox University (off Fulton Street, adjacent to the track and tennis courts).
