First Federal lauded with award for community service
First Federal, which has a branch in Newberg as well as several other Yamhill County towns, was awarded the Corporate Philanthropy Award by the Portland Business Journal during an awards banquest Oct. 11. First Federal ranked No. 1 in the small company category, representing businesses with revenue of less than $10 million per year.
The award recognizes "outstanding contributions that Oregon and southwest Washington businesses make to charitable organizations around the state," according to a press release. The award is based on businesses' financial contributions and employee volunteerism to nonprofit agencies in the area.
"First Federal has a deep and longstanding commitment to Yamhill County and the many nonprofit organizations who serve our communities," a statement from the savings and loan said. "We're proud that our employees volunteered more than 2,900 hours to Yamhill County nonprofits this past year …"
Since 1999, First Federal has donated more than $2.5 million to organizations in Yamhill County through its community giving program. Donations are made through customer ballots, community rewards, scholarship and internship programs.
