Official search for Jennifer Huston suspended
Police ask public to continue searching, following up on tips for further information
Official searches for Jennifer Huston have been suspended as of Friday. The 38-year-old Dundee resident has been missing since July 24 when she disappeared after purchasing gas at the Circle K gas station near Highway 99W and Springbrook Road in Newberg.
Capt. Jeff Kosmicki with the Newberg-Dundee Police Department said Monday they are still following up on tips that continue to come in, including the possible sighting of the woman Friday on a ferry headed from Anacortes, Wash., to the San Juan Islands.
We are still following up on tips that continue to come in. We have received tips that claim sightings of Jennifer throughout Oregon and other states as well, Kosmicki said in an email. We have sent law enforcement agencies out when possible. The report/tip in San Juan is very much like a lot of the tips we have received. It really doesnt stand out any more than the others.
Hustons family continues to ask for locals to keep an eye out for the woman or the 1999 Lexus SUV which she was last seen driving. With a full-tank, the Lexus could travel 300 to 350 miles, so law enforcement has put calls out to agencies in Washington, Idaho, Alaska and California in addition to Oregon.
We had a few places around Oregon and Washington that Jennifer was fond of so we have asked law enforcement agencies to check them, Kosmicki said.
Locally he said official searches will not continue until specific information about Hustons whereabouts is obtained, although local efforts are continuing through the family and other local groups including the Newberg-Dundee Citizens Info Group on Facebook.
We are hopeful that we will find Jennifer with each tip provided by the public, and we ask that the public continue to watch for Jennifer and/or her vehicle, Kosmicki said.
