Council to appoint Betz at next meeting
At the June 2 meeting of the Newberg City Council new City Manager Jacque Betz will be officially appointed to her position, effective June 16.
But before she is appointed, the council will consider a motion to honor the Newberg High School varsity cheerleading squad after they won state and national championships.
There are several other motions on the agenda, including a resolution which would purchase a 2014 Caterpiller 930k for $121,749. This would replace a similar front-end loader purchased in 2004 and is used for wastewater treatment plant operations.
A public hearing is slated to consider a supplemental budget for the current fiscal year. The supplement includes adjustments to the Transient Lodging Tax estimates. Quarterly receipts are showing revenues at 23 to 27 percent higher than estimated, so the city will expect $70,000 additionally to be added the budget, originally estimated at $460,000. It also includes increases to the court-appointed attorney fund as well as changes to the Utility Capital Improvement Fund.
