Volunteers needed for mock job interviews

Newberg High School is seeking volunteers to conduct mock job interviews with the sophomore class beginning the week of March 31. Par­tic­i­pants will conduct the 10- to 15-minute interviews from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. March 31, April 1, April 3 and April 4. For more information or to sign up, call Cheryl at 503-554-4529. Grad Night events on the horizon

The Newberg High School Grad Night committee will host a pair of fundraising events in the coming weeks. A pancake breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at St. Peter Catholic Church. Cost is $6 and breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee and orange juice. Donations, which can be dropped off at Krohn’s Appliance during regular business hours, will be accepted until April 1. Seafood company honoring innovative teachers

Newberg-based Northwest Fresh Seafood Company is accepting applications for its “Fresh Idea Award,” which will present a $100 gift card to a local teacher who demonstrates an adaptation or unique application of a principle that has impacted student learning. Applications are due March 31 and can be dropped off at the company’s Newberg location, 611 N. Main St. The top three ideas will be celebrated on the company’s Facebook page and the winning idea will be featured on the company’s Radically Fresh Ideas Page. Newberg schools accepting open enrollment transfers

The Newberg School District is accepting open enrollment transfer requests for students in kindergarten through 10th grade through April 1. Open enrollment allows students to transfer to another district without obtaining a release from their home district — they only have to receive approval from the Newberg School District. The district is not accepting open enrollment transfer requests at Mabel Rush Elementary, the dual-language program at Edwards Elementary or for the Chehalem Online Learning Alliance (COLA virtual school). Transfer forms are available at each school or can be downloaded at www.newberg.k12.
