Two bills progress, supportive of small businesses

Two bills passed in the House of Representatives Feb. 20 that are meant to help businesses grow. The first, House Bill 4005 would increase the number of “electronic commerce zones” from 10 to 15. This designation provides tax incentives for technology companies, encouraging relocation to traditional enterprise zones. The

second piece of legislation was Senate Bill 1563, which raises the business development fund cap that is offered to small businesses looking to expand. HB 4005 is awaiting hearing in the Senate. SB 1563 has been approved by both chambers and is awaiting the governor’s signature.
