Valley View Tractor will soon close its doors
Newberg business Store open until Feb. 28, owners reason for closing is two-fold
Valley View Tractor & Equipment, Inc. will close its doors Feb. 28.
Owner Steve Roy said the decision was difficult to make, especially as 2013 was a record year for sales.
We made our decision to close on Jan. 20, he said. Just because you have increased sales that doesnt mean you have increased profits or (are) making enough profit to sustain the company over the long term.
Roy added that the primary reason for closing was a combination of semi-retirement, which would allow for more family time, and closing the business while it remained profitable.
The employees are already fielding job offers from various other places and the customers are being referred to other locally-owned businesses in the area, he said. The service department has already closed and the price of the current inventory has been reduced.
The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 3-7 and closed Feb. 10-17 to prepare for the liquidation sale. Roy said normal hours will resume again Feb. 17 until closing. After the store closes, there will be a garage sale March 1-2 for any remaining inventory.
