Thanksgiving DUII enforcement a success
Public safety Holiday patrols will continue in Yamhill County through the Christmas and New Years season, have a plan to get home safely
From Nov. 22 to Dec. 2, Newberg-Dundee, McMinnville, Yamhill and Amity police departments teamed up to increase patrols with the focus on impaired drivers.
The four departments arrested a total of 10 impaired drivers while issuing 25 citations for other violations, in addition to recovering one stolen vehicle and arresting one person on an outstanding warrant.
The four departments will join the Yamhill County Sheriffs Office to continue their heightened focus on impaired drivers during the Christmas and New Years Holiday season. Extra patrols have begun and will continue until Jan. 2.
Officials from the four police departments and the sheriffs office said in a prepared release that they want county residents holidays to be happy and joyous, so they warned residents not to allow the effects of drugs or alcohol to ruin an otherwise joyous time of year for themselves, their families or strangers.
The police departments recommend residents have a plan to get home safely by choosing a non-imbibing designated driver or pre-arrange a ride home with a trusted friend or via a taxi.
