United Way hires new department director

The United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley has a new community engagement and impact director. Arturo Vargas, from McMinnville, who will work to engage nonprofits, service providers, civic groups and businesses toward collective solutions in education, income stability and health.

“We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially secure and when people live healthy lives,” said Randall Franke, UWMWV executive director. “Arturo will help to engage the community around building collaborative efforts to meet local challenges in Marion, Polk and Yamhill counties.”

Estate Planning Workshop slated

McMINNVILLE — CLA Estate Services is hosting an estate planning workshop Dec. 16. Running from 2 to 5 p.m. at Golden Valley Brewery, the workshop will provide information on securing one’s estate and retirement planning. A workbook will be handed out including information about the pros and cons of wills, how to avoid probate, long-term health concerns and tax reduction planning. New website to provide Cover Oregon resources

A new website launched by the Oregon Health Coverage guide will walk small business owners through Cover Oregon’s small business marketplace and provide resources that will help them with the enrollment process. The website details who’s eligible for coverage, how to choose a health plan, how an owner can enroll their business and employees, and what the marketplace provides.
