Annual Holiday Blanket and Book Drive starts Dec. 1

The 17th annual Holiday Blanket and Book Drive is being held at First Federal Dec. 1-15. First Federal is partnering with Yamhill County Action Partnership (YCAP) to distribute donated goods to those in need. Donations are accepted at each First Federal location Dec. 2-13 and distributed by YCAP. Woodlands association will meet Nov. 20 in McMinnville

McMINNVILLE — The Yamhill County Small Woodlands Association (YSWA) and the Oregon State University will present “A Timber Tax Overview” by accountant Clint Bentz.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a social half hour; the talk begins at 7 p.m. Nov. 20 in the auditorium at the OSU Yamhill County Extension office.

Those interested do not have to be a member to attend. Refreshments and door prizes will be provided.

Opportunity arises to donate food to the Philippines

Nathalie Mary has partnered with Force for Good Foundation to help victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

The organization is sending Vitameal bags — a nutritious food with added vitamins and minerals that will feed a child for 30 days or an adult for 15 days. One bag is $24.75, two cost $49.50 and five are $123.75.

Donations are tax deductible. Mary said so far 25 bags have been donated; her goal is 400.

Citizen Rate Review Committee to begin two years of meetings

Over the next two years the city of Newberg’s Citizen Rate Review Committee will review water, wastewater and stormwater utility rates. The next meeting is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Public Safety Building, 401 E. Third St. and will discuss supplying water to Springs customers. The schedule and agenda can be found on the city’s website, www.newberg oregon.gov.
