Juanita Kivett

Salem resident Juanita Kivett, who has family in the area, died July 22, 2013, of lung cancer at a care facility in Woodburn. She was 69.

She was born Dec. 15, 1943, in Los Angeles to Robert Hacker and Mary McClure. She grew up in California and Oregon and graduated from Canby High School.

She worked for the Oregon Child Services before retiring in 1989. She was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Oregon City, Canby Assembly of God and the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Salem. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with grandchildren.

Survivors include sons Jim Marvin, of Portland, John Marvin, of Newberg, Jeff Marvin, of Aurora, Trevor Bushey, of Medford, and Terry Bushey, of Salem; brothers Robert and James Hacker; sisters Jan Smith, of The Dalles, and Mary Weathers, of Salem; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands James Marvin, Robert Bushey and Richard Kivett, and sister Sheri Ruben.

A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Canby Hispanic Foursquare Church.

Richard A. Brugger

Cornelius resident Richard A. Brugger died July 26, 2013, in his home. He was 74.

He was born Nov. 30, 1938, in Portland. On March 19, 1990, he married Marianne. The couple lived in Newberg from 2002 to 2004 and from 2007 to 2010. They attended Family Life and Rock Point churches.

Survivors include wife Marianne, of Cornelius; brother, John; sons David, Timothy and Hans; daughters Cindy, Lynelle and Donna; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A memorial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Real Life Christian Church in Cornelius, followed by a potluck. A second memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at Harvest Time Pentecostal Church in Salem.
