Dr. Wendy Abraham, Naturopathic Physician, Sherwood Aesthetic MedicineAs we age, a few wrinkles or scars might be unavoidable. But for many of us, a few simple changes in our daily routine can greatly improve the way our skin looks and feels! Here are some common mistakes to avoid:

Over-exfoliating: You may be damaging the top layer of skin.

Going to bed without washing your face: Leaving makeup on your face overnight will clog your pores and your oil glands.

Picking at your skin: Your mother warned you, and she's right. Picking at blemishes causes irritation and, sometimes, scarring.

Not washing your sheets or makeup brushes: Both your sheets and your makeup brushes accumulate bacteria and dead skin cells, as well as old makeup. Wash both regularly!

Not wearing sunscreen every day: Cumulative UV damage causes fine lines and wrinkles, in addition to mutations like freckles and dark spots.

Not getting enough sleep: To fix dark circles, try getting a good night's sleep before you reach for the concealer.

Eating poorly: What goes into your mouth may be more important than what goes on your face. Cut back on sugar, caffeine and alcohol, and stock up on fruits and vegetables.

When all else fails, Dr. Abraham has a variety of treatments that can address the damage that time and the environment has done to your skin. RSVP at 503-610-1194 for Dr. A's free Q & A on May 9th from 5:30-7:30 to see a live microneedling demonstration and enter a raffle for a free microneedling facial.
