Treat acne scars with Fractora and microneedling!
After our latest column about Lumecca, we received many questions about whether the treatment would be effective for acne scars. Acne scarring is one of the most common skin conditions, and until recently, one of the most difficult to correct. The scars can last all the way from adolescence through middle age and can have real psychosocial effects, like anxiety, embarrassment or self-consciousness.
A new treatment called Fractora has been shown to have remarkable results. Fractora uses radiofrequency (RF) energy at targeted depths to address the textural concerns of acne scarring. It can also boost collagen production, fill in lines and wrinkles, and improve overall skin tone, texture and clarity. And unlike many other lasers or light therapies, Fractora is effective on a number of darker skin tones. Some studies show that 50% or more of the scars disappeared after only four treatments!
Microneedling has also been shown to be very effective at treating acne scarring. The minimally invasive treatment uses tiny needles to penetrate into the surface of the skin. As with Fractora, the needles can be targeted to treat deep textural concerns. For optimum results, Dr. Abraham suggests an average of three to five treatments. While some redness may result, it should fade within 48 hours.
