Dr. Wendy Abraham, Naturopathic Physician, Sherwood Aesthetic MedicineAre you in the January doldrums—just after the holidays, with cold, rainy weather every day and months to go before your spring vacation? Never fear! These short, gray days with limited direct sun exposure are the perfect time to rejuvenate your skin and treat redness, large pores and dark spots with Lumecca!

Lumecca is an intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment that is both effective and gentle. The most common treatment areas are ones that are regularly exposed to the sun, such as the face, hands, and chest. "As we age our pores get larger, age spots develop and our skin becomes less supple resulting in a lackluster complexion" says Dr. Abraham. "Lumecca has the ability to target red and brown skin pigments, stimulate collagen and bring back that youthful luminous glow."

Improvement can be noted within 24-48 hours after a single session, although many patients schedule 1-3 sessions for maximum effectiveness. Lumecca has also been shown to be an effective treatment for acne, rosacea, sun spots, spider vessels and freckles. While dark spots may become slightly darker immediately after treatment, they will shortly fade away. Clients are advised to avoid direct sunlight and UV exposure immediately after treatment.
