Prayer helped Madras woman in her decision to vote for Trump.

Prayed for guidance

To the Editor,

I voted for Trump and I am sure I was not the only one, because he won! Let me tell you why I voted for Trump. I prayed about it before I made up my mind who I was going to vote for. When it came down to our choice, I didn't think there was much to choose from. I really wanted someone who would stand up for all people. I sure do get tired of the run of the mouth speeches while there are big bucks being spent on air trips for the dog.

Now I don't claim to be very smart, so I decided what I needed to do was turn this over to my heavenly Father and ask him to show me what to do. So, I voted for Trump. Now that he won, I need to pray for him, as well as my country. God tells us if his people who are called by his name will call on him, he will heal the land. So to me, it makes no difference what color we wear (was not too long ago some people tried wearing red and it did them no good). So, if there is something going on you do not like, start talking to God. He is the only one who is in control of all things and he will listen to you.

Thanks to community

To the Editor,

As an employee of the city of Madras in the Public Works Department, I wanted to thank the people of Madras for their support and encouragement to all of us plowing and removing snow from the streets. You have been great at waving, giving us the "thumbs up," and speaking to us on the street. I even saw a person shoveling snow from around some of the fire hydrants. This would help the fire department in case of an emergency.

Some of the people who had issues with frozen or broken water pipes helped us tremendously by finding their meter box and getting the snow removed so we could get the water off a little bit sooner to save themselves from more water damage to their homes.

Thank you to many nice people, including Madras Bowl, who gave some of us lunch one day, and coffee on another.

Thank you to the people who called or emailed city hall with even more thank-yous and encouragement.

Finally, thank you to all of city hall for helping public works and the police department with morale boosting, coming out to help, and just being there through this time!
