A letter regarding a more community-minded approach to New Year's resolutions
To the Editor,
Every New Year I set myself up with a few resolutions. Usually I write them down and plug away at them throughout the year. This year, in addition to getting healthier, staying organized and keeping on top of things, there are three I've put in that speak to my spirit and my faith. They came up for me while doing the Covenant Prayer this Sunday in church.
I am going to: Stand firmly against bigotry.
I am going to: Speak gently against hatred.
I am going to: Speak up for those unjustly persecuted.
Our community is filled with good people and I see us working to do good by and for each other. So I wanted to share where I am going to work to do my part.
