Schaefer signs with CCC
Currently catching for MHS, senior Devon Schaefer will play outfield for CCC next year
Molalla High School senior Devon Schaefer recently signed with the Clackamas Community College Cougars to play baseball next season. Schaefer is currently catching for Molallas team, but hell be playing outfield for the Cougars.
He intends to get a business transfer degree while at CCC and then head to Oregon State University to complete his bachelors degree.
Ive always wanted to play college baseball and Clackamas is a good option, Schaefer said. Hes looking forward to his last season with Molalla. The team is young this year, so itll be difficult, he said, but added that next year Molallas team should be strong.
This year, Schaefer is the most experienced player with Molalla. Theres been pressure to step up, and Ive tried to, and I believe Im doing well so far, he said.
Schaefer has put in a lot of hard work over the last few years and its paying off. Not many high school athletes get a chance to continue playing at the college level. The competition for spots on any college team is extremely high.
Hell receive a partial scholarship, which will help pay for his tuition at CCC.
Its good to be recognized and move on, Schaefer said.
