Colton Middle School's football team is 5-0 for the season
Colton Middle Schools football team continued to show their talents this month with two shutout wins. Two weeks ago they beat Jefferson 44-20. They followed that with a 42-0 win against Blanchet Catholic.
"The Vikings played some excellent, sound football on defense and offense, Coach Craig Cervantes said. This may be the most talented team I've coached in 18 years of freshman, JV, and middle school football. Once again our offense did well on the ground and through air.
In the Blanchet Catholic game, Dawson Hall had three touchdown passes, bringing his season total up to 13.
Kreygan Raasch opened the scoring, and Joseph Reeds two-point conversion run was good, taking the Vikings to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter.
Evan Rasor grabbed a 21-yard pass from Hall in the second and carried it in for a touchdown.
With the 14-0 lead, the Vikings had room to breath following the half. As in the Jefferson game, Cervantes tried to get field time for all the players. We were able to play a lot of reserves in the second half as well, which is always a good thing, Cervantes said.
Kris Bjorn opened the third quarter with a 72-yard run, and Miles Payne picked up the two-point conversion.
Rasor followed Bjorn with another touchdown.
Zemar Smith closed the third quarter with a 69-yard run, and he closed the game with an 82-yard run.
Next up, the Vikings play Scio in the Tri River Conference championship on Thursday, Oct. 17, on the CHS field at 4 p.m.
Both the Vikings and Scio are 5-0. It should be a very intense game, Cervantes said.
