Soccer: Scappoose scores and update

Both the girls and boys played Scappoose on Tuesday.

Following a 3-0 win in Seaside last week, the Indians opened this week with a 5-0 win at home on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Darian Baughman snagged the first two points early, in the first five minutes of the game. In the second half Luis Rojas got the third point, followed again by Darian. Benito Ortiz picked up the fifth point.

“I keep telling the team that we will be a very tough team to beat when we finally play a full 80-minute game,” Coach Ryan Gates said. “This game was the closest they have come during the first four games to playing a full 80-minute game, and it showed in the score line and in our possession. Now we have to put this game behind us and focus on our first league game.”

The Indians enter league play 2-2 on Thursday, Sept. 19, against Gladstone (3-1), at 6 p.m.

The girls continued their losing streak in Scappoose on Tuesday. Kelsey Brandt scored for Molalla in the first half, tying the game 1-1.

Scappoose came back in the second with an early point though, and the game ended in a 1-2 loss for Molalla.

The girls finish non-league play 1-3. They play their first league game on Thursday, Sept. 19, in Gladstone (3-0-1).
